The first trailer for the upcoming star studded flick The Words has been released today. Writing duo Brian Klugman and Lee Sternthal step behind the camera to bring us the tale of a struggling writer named Rory Jansen (Bradley Cooper). In order to achieve the success that he’s always wanted, he takes credit for another author’s manuscript. After he does so, his guilty conscience kicks in and starts to affect him in unexpected ways.
Personally, I think it looks pretty good but unfortunately, early reviews from Sundance weren’t too positive. I do love Bradley Cooper though and his role here is a more serious/grown up role, which is nice to see.
I really enjoyed his work in Limitless and this film seems a bit similar. While Cooper is great in fun/light films like The Hangover or The A-Team, I do think that he has some serious talent and it’s nice to see him doing more drama. Plus, the rest of the cast is nothing to scoff at either.
All things considered, I’m definitely open to giving this one a chance, despite critics bashing the film for “poor narration and useless supporting characters.”
The Words releases on September 21st, 2012.
