Big news has just been confirmed by /Film regarding the highly anticipated film, ‘Transformers 3’. Many things have been revealed about the film including the use of 3-D cameras, who the villains will be, as well as information about the plot and ultimately the end of the successful trilogy. Director Michael Bay has explained the next ‘Transformers’ is due for a switch from the previous tragically reviewed ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’, for which he believes the writers strike as well as a rushed schedule was to blame.
Now, it was confirmed sometime ago the next ‘Transformers’ film and ultimately the last would be in 3-D. What we didn’t know was that it would be filmed using 3-D cameras. Bay will be using the same camera James Cameron used to film his revolutionary film’ Avatar’ with. Since ‘Avatar’, many films have been using 3-D technology but without filming in 3-D, rather they would add the effects after. This resulted in cheap, unattractive effects and changed the overall effectiveness of the film. I am glad to see a great, action packed film has decided to film in 3-D which promises to make audiences pleased.
Vince Pace, Innovator of FUSION 3-D AND 2-D digital camera systems developed with James Cameron states the following:
“Trying to lay low and do what I do best. We took delivery of the first Alexa cameras for Hugo and have 23 more on the way. Transformers has also signed on to shoot 3D throughout the film. I am working on a big Disney film but can’t mention the name and are lining up five more films. Just wrapped on additional photography for Resident Evil and Tron. Currently in Hawaii and flying out to London for Hugo.”
So there it is, Michael Bay will be filming the upcoming ‘Transformers 3’ using 3-D cameras, the same ones ‘Avatar’, ‘Tron Legacy’ and the upcoming Scorsese film ‘Hugo’ will be using.
As for the villain in the film, it is said that: “Shockwave, the robot cyclops-turned-laser-cannon, who became dictator of their home world of Cybertron after the other Autobots and Decepticons journeyed to Earth” will play the role. As well, I believe the classic villains in the other two films Megatron, voiced by Hugo Weaving and Starscream will be back in action for the final film.
Director Michael Bay claims the final film will get rid of the dorky comedy seen in the previous film by the Twin transformers, but John Turtorro’s character, who provides comic relief will remain.
“One thing we’re getting rid of is what I call the dorky comedy, states Bay. In ‘Transformers 3’, the main character, Sam Witwicky will be taking his first tenuous steps into adulthood while remaining a reluctant human ally of Optimus Prime. Shia has this great line: ‘You know, I’ve saved the world twice, but I can’t get a job. The plot also “delves into the space race between the U.S.S.R. and the USA, suggesting there was a hidden Transformers role in it all that remains one of the planet’s most dangerous secrets. The movie is more of a mystery, Bay says. It ties in what we know as history growing up as kids with what really happened.”
Bay happily informs audiences the upcoming film will be the last of the trilogy.
“As a trilogy, it really ends. It could be rebooted again, but I think it has a really killer ending.”
I personally cannot wait for ‘Transformers 3’ to be released. It seems as though the path director Michael Bay is taking is to give audiences a great end to an amazing story and leave them happy with the way the trilogy turned out. It promises to give an entertaining film, as most Bay films do, and filming with 3-D cameras will only add to the overall attractiveness of the film.
‘Transformers 3’ is set to release July 1, 2011.
