A brand new teaser for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts arrived during Sunday’s Super Bowl, promising fans an explosive continuation of the enduring franchise.
Rise of the Beasts is teased as a standalone sequel to 2018’s Bumblebee, which means the film won’t lean on any of the characters or storylines laid out in previous Transformers films. Instead, the release takes viewers to a new decade and tells the story from the perspective of two researchers who stumble upon a new faction of the Transformers race in the year 1994. They, along with several other human characters, become embroiled in an explosive conflict between the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons.
Early teasers hinted toward the storyline in Rise of the Beasts, but the full-length trailer gave fans far more to work with. The teaser provides a glimpse at the massive battles and delightful array of Transformers set to debut in Rise of the Beasts, as well as a cheeky glimpse of Pete Davidson’s turn as Mirage, the cheeky, hologram-projecting Autobot who seems to be slotting into the role that Bumblebee occupied back in 2018. Indeed, it looks to be a high-flying addition to a franchise that’s determined to keep on its path of redemption.
Rise of the Beasts also boasts stellar voice and on-screen talent. Hamilton‘s Anthony Ramos stars alongside Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Vélez, and Tobe Nwigwe, and the voices behind the array of mecha warriors are just as impressive. Game of Thrones’ Peter Dinklage joins mainstays Ron Perlman and the immortal Peter Cullen alongside other trendy or talented stars like the aforementioned Davidson and Michelle Yeoh.
The seventh installment in the Transformers film series promises a major change-up from the stories fans have seen so far when it arrives in theaters on June 9, 2023.
