Well, 51% of the world’s population are female, I suppose, so it’s not massively surprising that the final (yes!) film in the Twilight franchise pulled in $141.3 million at the box office over the weekend. That’s right: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, which is actually the name of a film, beat Skyfall, which took in just $100 million by comparison.
But Twilight, apparently, has lost some fans since New Moon, which opened with $142 million. This is presumably because said fans had time to reflect on where their money had been going and felt rather disgusted with the idea of paying actual money for stories without actual plots. Worldwide, however, Breaking Dawn – Part 2 has raked in a whopping $340 million. Which is a lot, isn’t it?
As far as I can tell, having read just enough of the first book to realise it hadn’t been written properly (and having seen the trailers for the other films), this last entry is about Kristen Stewart becoming a vampire and having a baby that grows up really fast. Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson and that boy that is a wolf must fight an opposing faction in a big snowy field. So if you like the sound of those scenes which I just imagined up right now, go and see this movie right away.
