New posters for the UK release of the upcoming Ted Bundy biopic with a mouthful for a title, Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, are here, and boy are they creepy.
The two one-sheets, which can be seen below, highlight some of the things about the movie we’ve already picked up from the first trailer. Director Joe Berlinger’s film is less concerned about the actual crimes the notorious serial killer committed and more interested in Bundy’s ability to charm people into thinking he was innocent. So the casting of once teen heartthrob Zac Efron in the main role seems to be the perfect choice.
As the second poster suggests, Extremely Wicked will be told from the perspective of Lily Collins’ character Liz Kendall, a former girlfriend of Bundy’s who struggles to cope with the fact that her boyfriend is capable of the things he’s accused of.
But as the movie will surely discuss, that disbelief is a large part of what made Bundy’s crimes so atrocious and shocking. Never before had a serial killer taken the form of such a charming individual, especially one as intelligent as Bundy. That appeal was a primary topic of Berlinger’s Netflix docuseries, Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes.
Appropriately, the rights to the movie, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to fairly positive reviews, were picked up by Netflix a couple months ago and it’s scheduled to be released on May 3rd. The two Berlinger projects will surely become companion pieces of sorts, striking down on the shocking deception Bundy was able to conceive.
With only a few more weeks to go before Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile is released to the world, stay tuned to We Got This Covered as further updates arise.
