There’s ages to go until Vince Vaughn cuts a serious figure in the much-anticipated second season of True Detective. Before then, though, he’ll be causing havoc on a global scale in next year’s comedy, Unfinished Business. The round-the-world romp finds its leading man taking an international business trip with his two co-workers, played by Tom Wilkinson and Dave Franco. Collaborating once more with Delivery Man director Ken Scott, Vaughn appears to be on top form in the film’s first NSFW red band trailer.
In Unfinished Business, Vaughn plays a small business owner who travels to Europe with his two associates in order to lock down the most important deal of his career. Things go awry when their biggest competitors show up to steal the deal. As this is a slapstick-y comedy, the somewhat mundane trip inevitably turns into a jaunt of indulgent fancy as the trio try to impress their clients.
Is it attempting to break out of the mould set by previous riffs on the same theme? Not really, but who cares? Scott’s having way too much fun, judging by what’s on show here, to care about critical approval. Case and point: Tom Wilkinson taking a major bong hit. If we weren’t swayed before, we certainly are now.
Unfinished Business lands in theatres on March 6th, 2015.
A hard-working small business owner (Vince Vaughn) and his two associates (Tom Wilkinson, Dave Franco) travel to Europe to close the most important deal of their lives. But what began as a routine business trip goes off the rails in every imaginable – and unimaginable – way, including unplanned stops at a massive sex fetish event and a global economic summit.
