Voyage Of Time Trailer: Terrence Malick Invites You On The Most Remarkable Journey Of All

The Japanese trailer for Terrence Malick's Voyage of Time has found its way online and in it, we get a sense of the director's grand space opus.

Voyage of Time, Terrence Malick’s wildly ambitious and indeed long-awaited documentary, comes in two distinct versions. The first of which is a 45-minute IMAX cut narrated by Brad Pitt which, after garnering rave reviews earlier in the year, made its way into select theaters back in October.

The second, more comprehensive version of Malick’s space opus is titled Voyage of Time: Life’s Journey, a feature-length cut wherein the inimitable Cate Blanchett recounts the story of the cosmos. After being selected to compete for the coveted Golden Lion accolade at the recent Venice Film Festival, Life’s Journey is expected to hit these shores sometime next year but to tide us over, the official Japanese trailer has found its way online. Peppered with glowing review quotes, Voyage of Time will debut in Japan early next year and surely – surely – the US release of the feature-length Life’s Journey won’t be too far behind.

Voyage of Time: The IMAX Experience graced theaters on October 7 to overly positive reviews. Don’t worry though, as there’s still time to catch Malick’s space opus on the big screen if you’re quick, as the truncated version has been playing in select US theaters for the past two weeks. Life’s Journey, meanwhile, will have a theatrical release of its own sometime next year.

Voyage of Time: The IMAX Experience is a one-of-a-kind celebration of life and the grand history of the cosmos, transporting audiences into a vast yet up-close-and personal journey that spans the eons from the Big Bang to the dinosaur age to our present human world … and beyond. A labor of love from one of American cinema’s most acclaimed and visually exciting filmmakers, Terrence Malick (The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life), Voyage of Time has been nearly four decades in the making and represents the filmmaker’s first foray into documentary storytelling. The film’s panorama of awe-inspiring images will take you into the heart of monumental events never witnessed — from the birth of the stars and galaxies to the explosion of diverse life-forms on planet earth, including humankind — in immersive new ways that only IMAX can deliver. This is a cosmic experience — a hymn to the glories of nature, life and scientific discovery — in which all the elements come together to form Malick’s most original film to date.
