I guess my first question would be why. But then again, nothing really surprises me these days in regards to the on-goings of Hollywood. Vulture is reporting that Mark Wahlberg is working with Justin Bieber on a basketball film with Ian Edelman, creator of HBO’s How To Make It In America, writing the script.
Vulture caught up with Wahlberg at the Time 100 Gala and they asked him about the film. He told them the following: “Well, we’re putting it together. Yeah. We’re doing it at Paramount. We pitched them the idea and, you know, we’re talking about doing it. He loves the idea. He’s been sending me video, he sent me a video of himself, and, yeah, I think he’s really talented.”
Wahlberg confirmed that neither him or Justin would sing or dance and he said that the film would be a drama, he told Vulture that “it’s more of a drama. It’s interesting, right? You want to know. They’ll probably announce it. They may announce it fairly soon … kind of like a reluctant mentor in an inner-city environment. You know, I don’t want to say.”
In some way, you had to see this coming. Of course Justin Bieber was going to start making movies. Hollywood loves turning singers into actors and what better singer to go after then the biggest one in the world. It was really just a matter of time. And since the film will undoubtedly perform well at the box office, you can expect this to be the first of many films starring Bieber.
