It feels unreal to even think that Justice League is the lowest-grossing DCEU movie. It was meant to be the culmination of years of hard work and the granddaddy that reached the billion-dollar club. Instead, Warner Bros. is sweating and worried if it’ll break even and not suffer any further humiliation.
Regardless of your feelings towards the film, it’s evident that the studio will need some time to introspect and rethink its future plans. That being said, they still do intend on pushing full steam ahead with most of their previously announced projects, and they made that known earlier today at Comic-Con Experience 2017 in Sao Paulo, Brazil by revealing their full DC Extended Universe slate.
According to those who were in attendance at the studio’s presentation, the Wonder Woman sequel was announced first, followed by Aquaman, two films that we already knew were on the way. After that, the studio showed off the title cards for Flashpoint, Justice League Dark, Suicide Squad 2, Batgirl, Shazam!, Green Lantern Corps and The Batman.
Notable by their absence were Cyborg’s solo film, Gotham City Sirens, Black Adam, Man of Steel 2, that Harley Quinn and Joker spinoff, the Deathstroke movie and a sequel for Justice League. Fans have also pointed out that the Joker origins pic wasn’t included in the presentation, but given that it sits outside the DCEU, that’s understandable. As for the others, well, it’s unclear why they weren’t on WB’s slate.
Perhaps they’re just so far off still that the studio isn’t looking to draw any attention to them, or maybe a few of the movies we listed above aren’t 100% confirmed yet? Or, even worse, perhaps some have been cancelled? Whatever the reason may be, it’s fair to say that what was announced is still very exciting and fans certainly have a lot to look forward to over the next couple of years.
Speaking of which, next up for the DC Extended Universe will be Aquaman on December 21st, 2018. It’ll then be followed by Wonder Woman 2 on November 1, 2019, Shazam on April 5, 2019 and Green Lantern Corps in 2020. As for the rest, we don’t have firm release dates for them just yet, but the moment we do, we’ll be sure to let you know.
