Well, we didn’t get the Snyder cut of Justice League that we were hoping for, but we might’ve just gotten something much, much better.
As I’m sure most of you are aware by now, San Diego Comic-Con 2018 came and went without so much as a whisper of the director’s cut of Justice League being presented – despite a report to the contrary. And while I assure you that your feeling of dispiritedness is reflected, I must admit, happiness is just a click away.
Over on the YouTube channel All Out Movies, you can watch the titular supergroup react to the cataclysmic finale of Avengers: Infinity War and, for a fan – like me – who can claim dual citizenship, it’s as hilarious and heartbreaking as you might imagine.
I mean, on the one hand, it’s humorous to envision the Justice League laughing as half of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is snapped into oblivion, celebrating each and every death like it’s some sort of victory. On the other hand, however, Infinity War did earn over $2 billion at the worldwide box office, and Marvel’s entire operation is about as successful as they come, so who’s really getting the last laugh here?
All in all, though, it’s nice to see the pair getting along. After all, the MCU won’t be enjoying such smooth sailing from here on out. Up until now, the highest grossing film franchise of all time has been running the table, but with DC turning up the heat in the form of Aquaman, Shazam! and Wonder Woman 1984, things could get dicey between the two comic book powerhouses. Hell, DC even rebranded their entire operation for the occasion, so the studio could have some serious aspirations for the future.
