In the last few days not only have we received news that the Ender’s Game teaser trailer will be released next week but we’ve also seen the first photo of Ben Kingsley tatted up as badass Mazer Rackham. Well, stand back for we have now been gifted via Han Solo and Hugo a teaser for the teaser trailer. Can’t get your head round it? Well, it’s akin to reading the pamphlet about the blurb of a book that’s yet to be released. Silly? Yes. Exciting footage? Definitely.
This first glimpse at the trailer spans 1 minute in total. Half of the time consists of Han Solo Harrison Ford behaving way too cool alongside the autocue-robotics of Asa Butterfield. Delving into some juicy shots of Ender flying through the zero-gravity battle room, there’s a brief moment of Ford delivering a speech and Ben Kingsley as Rackham. Considering its brief running time, it’s enough to garner a decent idea of the production design and scope of the film. You can see for yourself below.
Directed by Gavin Hood of X-Men Origins: Wolverine and war dramas Rendition and Tsotsi, Ender’s Game has been in the works for a while. It’s based on the first in a trilogy of novels penned by sci-fi author Orson Scott Card, and is rounded out by producer Roberto Orci, also responsible for Star Trek Into Darkness. Ender’s Game follows the story of Andrew “Ender” Wiggins as he journeys to Battle School. Set in a distant future in which Earth is under threat from a hostile bagload of aliens, Ender conquers a series of trials put before him by the International Military – headed up by Ford’s Colonel Graff – as he’s deemed the planet’s last hope.
Expect the full-length teaser for Ender’s Game to arrive on May 7th, with the film scheduled to hit theatres on November 1st, 2013.
