Summer blockbuster season is almost upon us, folks, and over the next three months or so it’s the moviegoing masses that will ultimately decide whether some of 2016’s biggest features sink or swim.
Hoping to steer Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows to box office stardom is Earth to Echo filmmaker Dave Green, who picks up the mantle on Paramount’s garish, CG-laden sequel in place of Jonathan Liebesman.
Bringing together Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo and Raphael once more, Out of the Shadows begins with Shredder back on the New York streets. But behind every pawn is a conniving king, and we soon learn that the notorious Krang stands as the true villain of TMNT 2, as today’s all-new sizzle reel reveals.
Also along for the ride are Megan Fox, returning as seasoned reporter April O’Neill, and newcomer Stephen Amell (Arrow) as vigilante Casey Jones.
Two years ago, Paramount’s live-action TMNT flick scored close to half a billion worldwide in spite of middling reviews, but can Green engineer another box office hit in a month’s time? We’ll find out when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows scurries into theatres on June 3.
