Watch Two New Trailers For Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

The hotly anticipated sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is a mere two months away. This means that we're being favored with a number of television commercials advertising everything from cars to fast food joints in the inimitable Ron Burgundy style. But Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is still a movie, and as a movie it needs things called trailers in order to sell tickets. So luckily, two brand new trailers were released today and they are everything you might expect from Will Ferrell and his team.

The hotly anticipated sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is a mere two months away. This means that we’re being favored with a number of television commercials advertising everything from cars to fast food joints in the inimitable Ron Burgundy style. But Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues is still a movie, and as a movie it needs things called trailers in order to sell tickets. So luckily, two brand new trailers were released today and they are everything you might expect from Will Ferrell and his team.

The first trailer opens with Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) speaking at his own funeral, which pretty much sets the tone for the hijinks. We now have some inkling of the plot, involving Ron and Co. going to the Big Apple to head up GNN (Global News Network), the first 24 hour news network. There’s humor aplenty, including the pairing of Ron with an African-American co-anchor and Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) confusing gay people with vampires. A few cameos from Harrison Ford and James Marsden also make their way into the trailers, so we have them to look forward to. All in all, it looks like more of the same fun stuff as we got in the first Anchorman, which is all that anyone can ask for.

There’s very little of the funny ladies in these two trailers, however, which is something of a let-down. We know that Christina Applegate is back as Veronica Burgundy nee Corningstone – although there appears to be trouble in paradise on that front – as well as Kristen Wiig as Brick’s love interest.

My one fear is that Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues will simply repeat the same sort of gags that were fresh in the first one. There’s one sequence in the second trailer in which Brian Fantana shows Brick his impressive collection of condoms. This seems to be a replay with variations of the ‘Sex Panther’ scene in the original Anchorman, so I’m hoping that there will be a few new jokes to toss in with the old favorites.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues comes to theatres on December 20th. Check out both trailers below and let us know what you think in the comments.
