The Wrap is reporting today that Warner Bros. is eyeing Ryan Reynolds, Tom Cruise, Bradley Cooper and more for the role of Hal Jordan in Green Lantern Corps. The full shortlist is said to consist of the aforementioned three actors along with Armie Hammer, Joel McHale and Jake Gyllenhaal. No word yet on who the frontrunners are, but this is definitely exciting news, especially as Reynolds may get another shot at playing the character after the doomed 2011 film.
Out of all the actors mentioned here, however, he’s also probably the least likely to be cast. With his commitments to Deadpool over at Fox, we can’t see him having the time to juggle another superhero franchise. The same goes for Bradley Cooper, what with his role in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy films no doubt eating up a lot of his upcoming schedule – especially with word on the street pointing to Rocket Raccoon and Baby Groot getting their own spinoff soon.

Tom Cruise seems a bit unlikely given his age, but we wouldn’t rule him out just yet. Hammer, meanwhile, has had experience with superheroes before having almost played Batman in Justice League Mortal, so he’s definitely a strong candidate.
Really, it’s hard to say which route the studio will go since aside from the “Lethal Weapon in space” comparison, we know very little about Green Lantern Crops at the moment. That being said, now that David Goyer and Justin Rhodes have been set to pen the script, we should get more information shortly.
