Variety is reporting tonight that Westworld star Thandie Newton has boarded the upcoming Han Solo spinoff in an undisclosed role. She’ll join Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke, among others. Not a bad cast, eh? Coming off a terrific turn in HBO’s hit sci-fi series, we imagine the actress will have a decent sized part here as she’s hotter than ever right now, but unfortunately, there are no further details on her casting at the moment.
This news comes only days after we heard that Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s spinoff had added Flebag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It seems that things are really starting to come together for the film now as it puts together the final pieces of its very impressive cast, and we can’t wait to see how it all turns out.
Newton is yet another great addition to the flick, and she’s riding pretty high these days after doing the best work of her career on Westworld. She gave a truly superb performance in season 1 of the show and it’s nice to see Hollywood sitting up and taking notice of her talent. With any luck, she’ll be sticking around the Star Wars universe for more than just this project.
Lord and Miller’s Han Solo anthology movie is still without a title to call its own, but from what we’ve been hearing, it’ll have a “heist or Western type feel.” At least, that’s according to Lucasfilm head honcho Kathleen Kennedy. Once we learn more, we’ll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, feel free to start speculating down below on who Thandie Newton may be playing in the spinoff.
