A few days ago, some concept art made its way online that teased a new look for Iron Man in next year’s Avengers 4. Since then, fans have speculated that this unusual silver and red design may not be the completed version of Stark’s next suit but rather its “under armor,” or at least its transitional appearance between nanotech modifications.
Now, a recent piece on EpicStream has gone one further to suggest that the fully-formed look for this latest outfit could even be Iron Man’s classic “golden sleeves” costume from the comic books. While the art itself leaves the external color of the arms to the imagination, we can already see the red torso and signs of the red hands, so there’s certainly some credence to this theory. The design even seems to closely hug the body, just as the ab-sporting original did.
Seeing how the sequel to Avengers: Infinity War could be the last time Stark is witnessed wearing any kind of suit, the classic costume would at least ensure that the hero who started this whole franchise would go out on a fan-pleasing note. Of course, this is just one of many ideas that the Russo Brothers could be trying with their upcoming release, with Tony being the subject of a whole load of online theories and speculation.
With Robert Downey Jr.’s contract now fulfilled, it’s become a common prediction that Marvel’s Phase 3 finale has a heroic death lined up for the character, though Downey’s co-star Chris Evans has certainly got a lot of people thinking that it will be Steve Rogers who gets to make the noble self-sacrifice.
Either way, we’ll see how much good Iron Man’s new armor does him in battle when Avengers 4 comes out on May 3rd, 2019.
