Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman is now only a few weeks away and excitement is starting to mount. There’s a lot riding on the film, what with it being Warner Bros.’ chance to get their DC Extended Universe back on track, and if it’s anything other than a bonafide hit, the studio’s plans for the future could be put into serious jeopardy. Not only that, but this being a female-led superhero movie also adds another layer of pressure for Wonder Woman to deliver, as everyone waits with baited breath to see if it can pull in the same numbers at the box office as other efforts in the genre.
Early projections are modest, but not terrible, and as is always the case, it’s going to be the reviews that ultimately determine its fate. Those are still at least a few weeks out, but until they arrive, we’ve now got the first reactions starting to surface over on Twitter. The film has apparently begun screening for critics and while those who’ve seen it are under strict embargo and can’t reveal much, it seems like the general feeling towards Wonder Woman is quite positive.
Of course, this type of buzz is far from concrete proof that the movie will be a hit, as evidenced by the enthusiastic reactions to both Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad coming out of their early screenings. Still, it’s better than seeing negative remarks and at this stage, with no official reviews to go off of, we’ll take what we can get. So, without further ado, check out some of the reactions that have begun to appear on Twitter below.

I just saw Wonder Woman. Not allowed to talk about it yet… but will say Patty Jenkins is a wonderful human who is too good for this world.

Heard some Wonder Woman reactions. Can't say anything except I can't wait for everyone to hear them.

I haven't seen #WonderWoman, but I've chatted with about 12 people that have. They all loved it! This really could be "the one".

As you can see, the critics are keeping pretty quiet and not revealing a whole lot, but there’s a definite sense of optimism there and it’s exciting to see, even if early buzz isn’t always indicative how how the film will ultimately be received upon hitting theatres. For now though, it’s a good sign and if these reactions translate into positive reviews, the DC Extended Universe could be about to get back on track.
Warner Bros. and Patty Jenkins will introduce the world to Diana, Princess of Themyscira on June 2nd. As mentioned above, early box office forecasts claim Wonder Woman is currently tracking for a domestic opening in the region of $65 million – not unlike Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger – but we’re more intrigued to find out how the standalone pic fares with critics in a few weeks’ time when those all important reviews roll in. Stay tuned for more on that front.
