It’s not a spoiler to mention that Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman won’t feature the character’s legendary (though perhaps for the wrong reasons) invisible jet, as director Patty Jenkins had already confirmed as much a few months into the film’s production. However, it does sound like there might be room for the Amazon warrior’s divisive mode of transportation further down the line.
During an interview with Yahoo! Movies, Jenkins was asked about the aforementioned transparent plane and whether there was any chance it’d make an appearance in a potential Wonder Woman sequel. Surprisingly enough, it sounds like she’s all for it:
The invisible jet is very important and ultimately we have to have the invisible jet. That’s a very big part of Wonder Woman.
While that is true, it’s really become more a source of ridicule and parody than anything else over the years. However, it does remain a fixture of Diana’s comic book mythology, and as such, there will be many fans hoping to see her take to skies in the invisible jet at some point should the franchise continue.
Though we’ll obviously have to see how the film performs at the box office when it opens on Friday before talk of a sequel can begin in earnest, it’s tracking very well so far and the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. In fact, it has the highest Rotten Tomatoes score of any Warner Bros. DC movie since Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. Suffice it to say, it looks like the DCEU finally has a hit.
