New info suggests that Gal Gadot’s Amazonian princess will be getting a revamped costume in her next outing, Wonder Woman 2, which is due to arrive in cinemas in 2019. Warner Bros. unveiled some storyboard art for the sequel at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas and though this art has yet to leak onto the web, we do have some details of what it depicted thanks to an individual who was in attendance.
In now deleted tweets from a Twitter account which has also been removed, attendee Daniel Eliesen teased that a “new costume” for Wonder Woman was revealed, as well as a preview of what Kristen Wiig may look like as Diana’s latest nemesis, Cheetah.
Here’s how he described it:
“Wonder Woman 2 they explained the tones of the movie and showed some story board of art of a new costume for Wonder Woman. They also showed a small preview of what they are trying to do with Cheetah.”
Cheetah was literally a tease image based on what they want it to look like. Hard to explain but probably what you think, for WW it’s a battle gear, pretty cool.
So, what could Diana’s new “battle gear” look like? Well, Heroic Hollywood reached out to Eliesen, who confirmed that the art showed Wonder Woman with some “very 80s themed headgear and some brand new armor.” This makes a lot of sense when you remember that Wonder Woman 2 will scroll decades forward from the first film’s WWI setting and drop Diana in the heart of the Cold War.
While it’s exciting to hear that the heroine is getting some new threads in her next movie, this may cause a bit of a continuity issue within the DCEU. After all, we’ve seen Diana fight apocalyptic monsters, like Doomsday and Steppenwolf, in the present day and she stuck with her classic centuries-old Amazonian armor. If she has a special battle suit, it’s peculiar that she wouldn’t have used it in the likes of Batman V Superman and Justice League.
Either way, Wonder Woman 2 will see Gadot and Wiig joined by Pedro Pascal in a mystery role and it’s set to lasso into theaters on November 1st, 2019.
