Wonder Woman fans would be surprisingly A-OK with James Gunn replacing Gal Gadot with a ‘Morbius’ veteran

James Gunn has made it abundantly clear that Wonder Woman will remain a key part of his plans for the DCU, what with the Paradise Lost prequel series and his (somewhat confusing) teases at some kind of animated project, too. However, it’s still to be determined if Gal Gadot will continue to be the one to bring Diana Prince to life. In lieu of trapping Gunn with the Lasso of Truth and forcing him to spill the facts, then, fans are already theorizing who could be a potential replacement for the SnyderVerse star.

One name who’s now emerged into the conversation is Adria Arjona. An accomplished performer whose career is definitely on the rise right now, following her recent turn in acclaimed Star Wars show Andor, Arjona does already have a history in the superhero movie genre — although we shouldn’t hold that against her. Yes, the actress had the misfortune of appearing in Sony’s meme engine Morbius, as Jared Leto’s love interest Martine Bancroft.

You might think being tied up in what is surely the greatest stinker in any comic book universe of the decade so far would cause folks to reject this fan-casting outright, but actually, Redditors are being surprisingly positive about Arjona hypothetically replacing Gadot in the DCU. Naturally, her strong performance as Bix Caleen in Andor is being cited as proof that Arjona has a lot more to offer the part of the Themysciran princess than Morbius might suggest.

Of course, others have argued in the past that maybe it’s high time DC cast someone with appropriate Greek ancestry as Wonder Woman, although Arjona’s Puerto Rican heritage might not be a problem considering Rosario Dawson (another veteran of the Star Wars universe) has likewise portrayed the heroine in animated productions. Regardless, until Gunn announces otherwise, Gadot remains our Diana for now.
