Those with an affinity for the SnyderVerse enjoyed a massive weekend after Zack Snyder‘s Full Circle event dropped plenty of bombshells in regards to what he had in store for the Justice League sequels that never materialized, but a lot of people were left incredulous at the filmmaker’s plans.
Even mentioning the director’s contributions to the DCU mythology is enough to ignite an online firestorm, but several notable changes in particular split the fandom in two more than usual. While many were praising the genuine of Snyder’s ambitions to subvert the established order, the other side of the divide were left scratching their heads at the stupidity of it all.
According to the man himself, at various points throughout the Justice League sequels we would have seen Bruce Wayne and Lois Lane hook up after the billionaire playboy decided putting the moves on the grieving ex of the alien he tried to murder was the smartest play, while the Dark Knight would have teamed up with the Joker because he needed him to find Kryptonite in order to take down the corrupted Kal-El, which laughs in the face of his reputation as “the world’s greatest detective.”
The most head-scratching revelation came when Snyder admitted he was going to reveal Zeus as a Kryptonian, with David Thewlis’ Ares responsible for crashing the scout ship found in Man of Steel, which would then give rise to not just the Big Blue Boy Scout, but Wonder Woman’s entire race of Amazons, too.
You can’t fault the grandiose scale, but making such sweeping changes to canon would hardly have been unanimously well-received, much like the SnyderVerse itself in a fitting twist of irony.
