A-Trak seems to have gotten off to a slow start thus far in 2016, as his Ookay collaboration back in March left something to be desired. He’s more than made up for it though with “Parallel Lines,” which showcases a genre-bending quality that’s become the DJ/producer’s calling card since his work with the likes of Kanye West thrust him into the mainstream spotlight.
A handful of guitar chords underscore rich vocals by singer/songwriters Phantogram before a difficult-to-categorize synth melody at the drop is accompanied by tastefully sparse 808 drum rolls. This track has A-Trak written all over it; it’s radio friendly in a way that doesn’t disqualify it from the praise of music critics in the coming months.
At this juncture, it’s hard not to imagine that A-Trak‘s “Parallel Lines” featuring Phantogram will receive its fair share of placement in DJ sets over the course of festival season.
After listening to the track in the SoundCloud player above, look out for more from both artists as our music’s biggest months are still on the horizon.
