The cause of Amy Winehouse‘s death is still unknown, but the speculation many had, that the controversial but talented singer’s untimely demise was due to illegal drugs, has been disproven by toxicology. At the time of her death last month, Winehouse had no illegal drugs in her system, according to the tests. However, the singer had recently consumed an unspecified amount of alcohol.
Winehouse’s family released this statement:
“Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy’s system at the time of her death. Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.”
Allegedly, Winehouse had been cutting down on her party-lifestyle in the time before her death, which would be fitting with the family’s claims. They also added:
The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October.
Who knows if October will actually be when we finally learn the truth about Amy Winehouse‘s death, but as of now, we know that it wasn’t due to any illegal drugs.
