Deadmau5 Addresses Skrillex’s Criticisms In Sullen Twitter Rant

Progressive house mastermind deadmau5 has once again found himself the focal point of a feud with another world-class DJ/producer, but this one seems to have hit close to home. Last month, he railed on Jack Ü and Justin Bieber's "Where Are Ü Now," even going as far as to upload a piece of SoundClownery that somehow managed to capture my exact sentiments on the track.

Progressive house mastermind deadmau5 has once again found himself the focal point of a feud with another world-class DJ/producer, but this one seems to have hit close to home.

Last month, he railed on Jack Ü and Justin Bieber’s “Where Are Ü Now,” even going as far as to upload a piece of SoundClownery that somehow managed to capture my exact sentiments on the track:

Jack Ü’s Skrillex – a mau5trap signee of yesteryear who went on to achieve international superstardom and found his own successful label – commented on the disagreement in an interview with New York radio station AMP 92.3, saying:

I don’t take it personally because I’m secure with myself and what I do, but I almost feel bad that that’s his one way of getting attention rather than going into music and curating. I think his attitude’s changed over the last couple years…a lot of people are getting tired with his attitude, calling people out on Twitter.

While in other such instances deadmau5 would emotionally eviscerate his counterpart until they block him on Twitter, Skrillex’s own words appear to have struck a nerve since the former artist’s responses to them come across as more melancholic than usual:

I have to disagree with one particular part of what Skrillex told 92.3 during his interview: deadmau5 has scarcely changed in the past decade or so of his career. While he famously gave up drugs sometime between 2010 and 2012, neither his obtuse personality nor his profound production values have suffered as a result of his own rise to success.

Is there probably a more constructive way for deadmau5 to go about raising his dissatisfactions with his peers? Sure. But considering that he’s continued to measure up to his own impossibly high standards in an industry that’s known for changing people, he gets to say whatever he pleases as far as I’m concerned.
