The most recognizable element of “Nvidia” that remains in “Sellout” is the synth arpeggio that bookends the beginning and end of the track. The gritty bass lines driving the better part of the arrangement have received a complete makeover, and their newfound dissonance sets a much darker ambience.

It recently came to light that deadmau5 and Eric Prydz met for a studio session this weekend. While none of the latter artist’s creative hallmarks are evident in “Sellout,” perhaps the occasion still kickstarted deadmau5‘ creativity even as it pertains to his own projects.
