Rap superstar Eminem recently released his latest album, Recovery. The first official sales numbers are in and Billboard tells us that the album sold 741,000 copies making it #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. This is the largest sales week for an album since 2008 when ACDC’s Black Ice moved 784,000 copies. Eminem’s last album, Relapse, only sold 608,000. Recovery marks Eminem’s sixth straight No. 1 Debut.
Another interesting fact to note is that 225,000 copies were purchased digitally (through iTunes or some other means). That’s a fairly large number and marks the second biggest digital week for an album. The only album to move more copies digitally in a week was Coldplay’s Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends which sold 288,000
It looks like Em is back and in full force. He’s once again proved that he really is the king of the rap game. If you haven’t yet checked out Recovery you should really take a listen. It’s a great album and features some great songs like Not Afraid and No Love. In my opinion I still like Relapse better but Recovery is still worth a listen and is a very solid album.
