Eric Prydz has announced today that his tribute song to super fan James Lillo will be released tomorrow, December 28 under his Pryda alias. Titled “Lillo,” the song was first unveiled earlier in the month during Prydz’ charity performance at Sound nightclub, with the producer promising it would be released soon.
James Lillo’s story hit the dance music blogosphere last month after Prydz agreed to host a charity performance in his honor after finding out that the cancer stricken fan’s last wish was to see him play live once more. Sadly, Lillo passed away before the tribute performance came to fruition, leading the Swedish DJ to dedicate a song in his memory as well.
“Lillo” ranks as a solid Pryda effort that sees the producer employing his usual hallmarks, including four on the floor rhythms, stunning synth work and emotive melodies. With a sound that lands somewhere between yearning and euphoria, the single is a fitting tribute to James that would have no doubt brought a smile to his face.
As with the tribute concert, all proceeds from “Lillo” will be donated to the charity of his choosing, the Cancer Research Institute. The performance already raised upwards of $60,000, and the release of “Lillo” will give fans not only a solid track but an opportunity to contribute to a worthy cause as well.
Eric Prydz has made “Lillo” available for streaming ahead of the release, which can be listened to above. Stay tuned for the song to officially drop tomorrow.
