Once again, the BET Awards put on an incredible show filled with a number of memorable performances, comebacks, and tributes.
Some of the performances included T.I.’s first performance since being released from prison. He performed “Yeah Ya Know” with Travis Barker on the drums. Kanye West also made his first performance since his incident with Taylor Swift at last years MTV Music Awards by opening the show with his latest single, “Power”.
Another comeback, which was definitely the highlight and most memorable performance of the show was Chris Brown’s Michael Jackson tribute. Chris Brown stole the show when he performed a number of Michael Jackson classics and after an incredible performance including all of MJ’s signature dance moves, Chris Brown broke down in tears when attempting to perform “Man in the Mirror”. Brown struggled to hold back his emotions and pointed the mic to the crowd who sang the song for him as he fell to the floor in tears. This was Brown’s first performance since pleading guilty for assaulting Rihanna.
Another moving tribute was when Janelle Monae, Esperanza Spalding, Alicia Keys, and Patti LaBelle performed four of Prince’s most popular songs, before presenting him with BET’s lifetime achievement award.
Other highlights of the night included performances by Drake, Eminem, Young Jeezy, and Alicia Keys.
The show closed with a performance by Ludacris, who was later joined by DJ Khaled, T-Pain, Ross, and Minaj, and accompanied by a marching band to end with “All I Do is Win”
