EDC Las Vegas 2016 was a notable festival for more than a few reasons. Aside from hosting a massive lineup comprised of many of the best DJs around and drawing in thousands of festival goers, the major event featured some interesting turn of events, such as Tiësto‘s prank reveal as Marshmello.
While most fans were skeptical of the mellogang leader’s “unmasking,” it was definitely one of the more memorable headlines to come out of the three day weekend back in June. In the latest episode of Tiësto’s In The Booth series, the Dutch DJ reveals what went on behind the scenes of the prank.
In the video, we see Marshmello and Tiësto hanging out together in a trailer while discussing the prank with the former’s manager Joe Shalizi. They discuss dressing up the Musical Freedom head honcho in Marshmello’s signature all white style, before he finally dons the recognizable helmet to head out on stage.
Tiësto and Marshmello were clearly having some fun with the prank, and it’s interesting to get a behind the scenes look at one of the more notorious publicity stunts of the year. They may not have managed to fool too many people, but the prank will certainly stick out in the minds of those who witnessed it.
