RL Grime had anticipation running high earlier in the week for the arrival of his latest Halloween mix and today it’s finally here, just in time for the weekend’s festivities. Since 2012, the “Aurora” producer has delivered an annual mix each year to celebrate the spooky holiday while gaining tons of support from fans and fellow DJs alike. With the fifth mix in the series finally available, things are really starting to feel like Halloween.
Halloween V opens with some haunted sound effects as Pharrell Williams introduces RL Grime’s latest mix before quickly moving into a trap rework of the Stranger Things theme song. Over the course of an hour, the DJ works in a succession of hard hitting trap and hip hop while keeping the creep vibes strong throughout. The mix concludes on an epic note by giving us an extended sample of RL Grime’s forthcoming collaboration with What So Not and Skrillex.
Considering the quality of the last four mixes, anticipation for Halloween V was high leading up to its release and RL Grime does not disappoint. The music selection and mixing are on point, offering up the perfect playlist for your holiday partying.
