With so much news surrounding Kanye’s upcoming album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’, including multiple versions of the tracklist, his banned album cover, his Runaway film featuring tracks from it and his weekly G.O.O.D. Friday releases, you’d think there’s not much else to cover until his upcoming November 22nd release. Well think again.
On a UStream video during a conference call, Kanye stated “It’s a couple surprises on there, believe it or not. Even with people trying their best to leak it and stuff, they still can’t stop what I went into the studio and did.”
While not specifying exactly what was changed since the latest and supposedly final tracklist, G.O.O.D. Music member, CyHi da Prince, hinted that fans will be listening to very different songs.
The most surprising announcement was that he confirmed collaborations with legendary A Tribe Called Quest member Q-Tip and underground producer Madlib, saying that the collaborations already happened and the results are “in the works right now“.
There was already talks about featuring them on the album earlier in the year and that he even reserved five Madlib beats for the album so I was a little disappointed when I didn’t hear any of those collaborations in the leaked tracks nor seen their names on any of the tracklists that have been floating around the net. What he didn’t mention was whether these highly anticipated collaborations will be on ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy‘ or his upcoming album with Jay-Z, ‘Watch the Throne‘.
Lastly, another legendary producer, DJ Premier spoke on collaborations with Kanye in an interview with VIBE. While Kanye couldn’t get anything finished for ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ like previously planned, Premier did contribute his famous scratches to Mama’s Boyfriend and also submitted beats for ‘Watch the Throne’.
As someone who respected but never really got on the Kanye bandwagon, I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for Kanye projects. This is going to be a G.O.O.D. winter.
