Jimin was the third BTS member to release a solo studio album since the band began its hiatus, titled FACE. This is not the first time we see Jimin venture onto solo activities, though, considering that he had released a few songs and collaborated on tracks with other artists in the past. The list includes the single of BIGBANG’s Taeyang, “Vibe,” which marked the beginning of a new era for Jimin as an artist.
Ever since BTS decided to take a much-deserved break from group activities, its members have been taking full advantage of the opportunity to spread their musical wings. Unsurprisingly, instead of this situation spelling the band’s descent into irrelevance, it has only made its members stronger, as they individually grow into better artists before the group’s inevitable comeback. (Because yes, it’s only a matter of when, not if. But I digress.)
As for Jimin, his debut album was announced back in February, and its track list soon followed, indicating that FACE would be made up of six songs. This alone was enough to get everyone excited, with fans running to get their hands on the album as soon as it hit the shelves. While bobbing their heads along to the impressive tunes, though fans were quick to notice the album had more to it than previously thought. As it turns out, Jimin decided to include a seventh track, “Letter,” in the physical copies of FACE — a surprise listeners welcomed with open arms, of course.
“Letter” is hidden inside track six — “Like Crazy (English Version)” — and starts playing after a moment of complete silence, at exactly six minutes and 13 seconds into the song. If you thought the surprises were over, though, think again.
Does Jungkook sing in FACE?
Despite them being in the same band for a decade, fans are still moved whenever two BTS members collaborate on individual projects. While RM is credited on Jimin’s new album as a songwriter, it’s Jungkook’s participation that is sending the fandom into hysterics. The youngest member of BTS is widely known for his smooth vocal performances, and this time, his golden pipes were put to use for the background vocals in “Letter.”
While this type of thing may not sound like much to the general audience, for ARMY, the fact that the bandmates are often involved in one another’s solo work is a testament to the nature of their bonds. We’ve seen too many times how sometimes artists in the same group work together solely out of necessity, after all. So for BTS members to constantly participate in one another’s projects — even during a break from group activities — speaks volumes about how much they truly like and respect their fellow bandmates.
In this particular case, Jungkook’s participation in “Letter,” along with the fact that it’s a hidden track, seems to support the fans’ theory that the song is a love declaration to ARMY and BTS as a whole. Needless to say, listeners are feeling incredibly touched by this turn of events.
