will.i.am Calls New Michael Jackson Album Disrespectful

As of today we've heard two new songs from Michael Jackson's upcoming posthumous album entitled 'Michael'. The two tracks were Hold My Hand and Breaking News. Both were great songs and it looks like the album is going to please fans everywhere. While this may be true, there's at least one person who isn't happy with it, that person is Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am.

As of today we’ve heard two new songs from Michael Jackson’s upcoming posthumous album entitled ‘Michael’. The two tracks were Hold My Hand and Breaking News. Both were great songs and it looks like the album is going to please fans everywhere. While this may be true, there’s at least one person who isn’t happy with it, that person is Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am.

In a recent interview, will.i.am was quoted as saying:

“Whoever put it out and is profiting off of it, I want to see how cold they are. To say that what [Michael] contributed during his life wasn’t enough. He just wasn’t any ordinary artist. He was a hands-on person. To me it’s disrespectful. There’s no honoring. Michael Jackson songs are finished when Michael says they’re finished, he continued. Maybe if I never worked with him I wouldn’t have this perspective. He was very particular about how he wanted his vocals, the reverb he used…he was that hands-on.”

He also made his feelings known back in the summer when he spoke about the album and said the following:

“I don’t think that should ever come out,” he said. “That’s bad. He was a perfectionist and he wouldn’t have wanted it that way. How you gonna release Michael Jackson when Michael Jackson ain’t here to bless it?”

In some ways he does have a point but I’m not sure I totally agree with him. While it may be wrong to release Jackson’s stuff without his blessing, if the music is already there, and really is mostly complete, why not let his fans hear it?
