20,000 People Sign Petition Asking Netflix To Cancel Good Omens

Good Omens has received mostly stellar reviews since its debut, but not everyone is pleased with the fantasy series. In fact, some are so disgusted by the six episodes that they actually launched an online petition in hopes of inspiring Netflix to cancel the adaption once and for all. The only problem is that the show is an Amazon original.

Well, that’s embarrassing. The Christian-led Return to Order campaign realized their mistake way too late. By the time those in charge took down the confusing entreaty, it had already amassed over 20,000 signatures. Apparently, no one involved decided to take a minute to check what streaming service this devilish series belonged to.

The defunct petition claimed that Good Omens is “another step to make satanism appear normal, light and acceptable”, as well as claiming that the show “mocks God’s wisdom.” It appears that they could have used some of that wisdom before unleashing their factually inaccurate campaign out into the world forever. The post may be gone, but the Internet never forgets.

Neil Gaiman, the author behind the original source material, responded to the controversy by saying, “I love that they are going to write to Netflix to try and get # cancelled. Says it all really.”

Of course, this is just the latest attempt by trolls online to try to cancel or change they something they don’t like. It happened with Brie Larson’s portrayal of Captain Marvel and again during season 8 of Game of Thrones. Some people will never be happy, so it’s nice to watch them publicly humiliate themselves every once in a while.

Even worse for all of those who signed the petition is the fact that the series they hate so much seems like it may be destined for a second season. Though nothing is official as of yet, count on all of these amateur critics to rush to the Internet to implore Hulu or HBO to cancel Good Omens if more episodes do drop.
