You can now add Ariana Grande to the listĀ of artists who have been sued for song plagiarism as of late. Songwriter and producer Alex Greggs is hitting Grande and producer David Guetta with a lawsuit over their track “One Last Time,” claiming that it’s too similar to the song he wrote for Skye Stevens, “Takes All Night.”
According to TMZ, the court filings noteĀ that the biggest similarity between the two cuts is the chorus. “One Last Time,” a single coming off Grande’s 2014 record, My Everything, was a fairly successful hit. The song peaked at number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and reached as high six on the Mainstream Top 40. Greggs also states that music and lyrics are copied as well, most specifically, “take(s) [or taking] you home.”
Greggs himself has had his fair share of success, too. The songwriter is known for working with and remixing for a number of artists including Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera.
