Sonically, “Setting Fires” is in line with The Chainsmokers’ other familiar hits like “Don’t Let Me Down” and “Closer.” Alex and Drew definitely have the formula on lock at this point, ushering in subdued beats under extremely catchy topline hooks, then moving into upbeat drops with spiralling vocal chop melodies. The forthcoming single has its own unique appeal though, thanks to some ethereal production elements that give its sound a dreamy quality.

“Setting Fires” just goes to show that everything The Chainsmokers touch is gold, making our anticipation for the New EP that much stronger.
