There was a rumor almost three weeks ago that director Peter Berg would bring the TV show, Friday Night Lights, to the big screen. According to Deadline, this is now true.
During TCA’s panel for the upcoming series, Prime Suspect, which Berg serves as executive producer, he confirmed that there will be a follow-up film to the acclaimed football drama, which just ended its five-year run.
“We’re very serious about trying to do it,” Berg tells Deadline. The goal is to have the film begin the shooting phase in 2012 and as of now, there is no release date set.
Universal Pictures released the 2004 version of Berg’s Friday Night Lights and will be doing the same for the TV series adaptation. Brian Grazer and his production company, Imagine Entertainment, will also return. The cast from the television show, including Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, are rumored to reprise their roles.
