While trap music pioneer Diplo and former Brick Squad rapper Gucci Mane clearly agree that they’re making an album together, they seem a bit confused on what kind. Mane, who is no stranger to social media controversy, took to Twitter to announce an upcoming full-length EDM effort with the Mad Decent founder, who responded with a tweet to the contrary.

Diplo has voiced his disillusionment with EDM in the past – telling Huffington Post that “Dance music is so interchangeable” – and over the course of his career, he’s worked more closely alongside artists in the hip-hop and dance hall arenas. The music he releases jointly with bass music icon Skrillex as Jack Ü doesn’t stand out as either artist’s strongest work, and a back-to-the-roots approach to his stylistic origins may prove enriching to his creative process.
While neither Diplo nor Gucci Mane have released specific details of their upcoming album, we’ll be sure to keep you posted on more information as it becomes available.
