Don Diablo’s Secrets Remix Needs To Stop

Tiësto and KSHMR's "Secrets" has turned out to be the most memorable track put out by either artist this year, but Don Diablo's version falls just a bit short of paying it justice. Time and time again I've aired my grievances with the Dutchman, and he's given me reason to blast him once again.

In case you haven’t noticed, though, the common theme in all of Don Diablo’s disasters is that they start out sounding like quality tracks. In the case of his “Secrets” remix, the pitch-shifted vocals effectively accompany a unique new arrangement with a bass house leaning – but a high-pitched melody before the drop steps outside the range of what its synths really ought to be used for. It really is just a matter of overproduction; most of the remix makes for a quality piece of music until that one part stretches it out too far.
