Electric Zoo went down without a hitch earlier in the month, serving as one of the biggest electronic music festivals on the east coast while offering up a massive lineup and six curated stages to attendees over its three day duration. Cashing in on the success of their 2016 iteration, Electric Zoo is now revealing some major expansion plans for later in the year.
For the first time ever, promotional company Made Event will be bringing their flagship festival to China. The brand’s newest addition is set to debut on November 12 with a one day event dubbed Electric Zoo: Countdown Shanghai.
Speaking about the festival’s new chapter, Adam Richman, SVP of Made Event-New York and director of Electric Zoo at SFX Entertainment, Inc., stated, “Electric Zoo Countdown is the perfect introduction of our brand to China and will be the stepping stone to bigger editions of Electric Zoo throughout Asia.”
The announcement comes at a time when other major festival brands are making a push for the international market, with Asia serving as a major draw for dance music events. Just last week, Ultra Worldwide concluded a record breaking tour throughout Asia, culminating with three concurrent events in Japan, Hong Kong and The Philippines on the same day. If that’s any indication of the future, Electric Zoo‘s expansion to China should do just fine.
