Eric Prydz is one busy guy. The progressive house producer maintains a busy release schedule, juggling three separate monikers while regularly dropping strong efforts from each. During his set at Insomniac’s Escape Psycho Circus over the weekend, the Swedish DJ was generous enough to test out some new material, and thanks to a fan in the audience who had the foresight to record the whole thing, the ID is now making its rounds on YouTube.
The “Escape ID” is a sprawling techno cut that kicks off with a pounding backbeat and a repeated vocal sample as ominous strings ring out in the distance. The tune is definitely a slow burner as it gradually unfolds over the course of nearly eight minutes, as Prydz introduces various elements throughout its timeline. The instrumentation is minimalistic, with simple bassline and rigid drums crafting entrancing rhythms. Around the halfway mark, the ID breaks down into an ambient synth driven section before the drums re-enter the mix to bring the song to a close.
The ID comes just after Eric Prydz announced to fans that he would be releasing some new material under his Pryda alter ego soon, and it would appear that the unreleased tune will probably fall under that project. We’re not sure when the ID will be released, but we’ll be looking forward to it for sure.
