With the release of Flume‘s Skin LP just around the corner, the Australian DJ/producer has found himself a topic of frequent discussion throughout the electronic music community. Most recently, he’s released a “Bedtime Mix” on BBC Radio 1 that might surprise some of his adoring fans.
Consisting predominantly of soul music tracks driven largely by acoustic instrumentals, Flume’s Bedtime Mix clocks in at just over half an hour. Around the 25 minute mark it takes a more synth-driven turn, but up to that point it sounds pretty dissimilar to what those familiar with the “Never Be Like You” producer might expect to hear.
As for the Skin LP itself, Flume has revealed that it’s finished on the production end. And, with the caliber of tracks he’s been premiering at recent performances, it’s safe to expect an impressive follow up to his self-titled 2012 debut.
