Good things come to those who wait, and long-time fans of Sex and the City have reason to rejoice as a compelling character is set to return for a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in season two of the spinoff And Just Like That….
The firey, sex-positive, and ultra-stunning Kim Cattrall is making a surprise cameo in the Sex and the City spinoff, and while it’s slated to be but a moment in time, it’s still a positive step forward for those of us who grew up watching Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda as they went on various escapades of love, friendship, and heartache. Variety shared the news this afternoon, giving us an extra reason to mark the important date of the series return in our planners.
When the Sex and the City spinoff was announced, it took almost no time for fans to note a major character missing from the continuing storyline. Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones wouldn’t be joining her friends-turned-sisters on the next leg of their journey, and there were some interesting moving parts behind the scenes that were said to be responsible for her absence.
So what do we know about her cameo so far? The details surrounding it are scarce, as to be expected because the scene is said to be such a short one. Variety notes that the scene doesn’t deal with “in person” interaction with her ex-co-stars but rather a chat between two characters.
“Samantha, who in the show has moved to London, will have a phone conversation with Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw.”
Variety also sets a standard for fans who might have been hoping that this would lead to more of her in the future by saying that this isn’t slated to serve as a character return by any means. It’s a phone call for now; it might only ever be just a phone call, but it does serve a purpose. Samantha and Carrie will have a conversation, which is reason enough to celebrate for now.
