In the worst idea of the year, the latest dangerous TikTok trend has users mixing corrosive chemicals

People are definitely doing this at home. Please, don’t be one of them.

Whatever happened to eating Tide Pods? Because humans evolve and trends change faster than Ted Cruz fleeing for Mexico, people are mixing very dangerous, explosive chemicals on TikTok for clout. Or maybe to look mortality in the eye and say, “not today, Death.” Either way, it’s very dangerous and could kill you.

Here’s an example. There’s a video floating around called “I Mixed These Chemicals To Make Explosion” by very popular social media personality jojo sim. He has more than 6 million followers so these videos get a lot of attention, and get reshared by his many fan accounts.

Some aren’t as innocuous. Here’s a genius (sarcasm) mixing two chemicals that she knows causes a bad reaction, then explaining the bad reaction, then adding water. It all feels very made up, staged and also dumb. Why do this? Her video caption? “If you never hear from me again know that I went boom.” Hilarious! (More sarcasm).

Here’s someone mixing aluminum foil with hydrochloric acid. I can’t stress this enough: If you value your fingers and toes, don’t do this. It is so dangerous and the fact that this person is doing just for a video on a social media site is not a good look.

Here’s another classic combo. Something and Chlorine. Chlorine is very dangerous when used the wrong way. Not only can it explode, but it can also ruin your lungs. In this case it was milk, which does nothing, but wait until this genius finds out about mixing it with brake fluid.

A cursory Google search will bring up hundreds of warnings about chemicals. Things like bleach, vinegar, rubbing alcohol and ammonia are all dangerous on their own, but mixing them can produce fatal results. Maybe stop doing this? Or don’t, I’m not your Dad. Just stay safe out there I guess. Or try to.
