It’s no secret that video games and electronic dance music go hand in hand. Afrojack is featured in the latest Call of Duty, Alesso made a cameo in Payday 2, and the gaming platform Twitch has hosted countless album release parties, mixes, and more.
Now, League of Legends has consigned some of dance music’s most innovative producers to remix some of their classic tracks. Titled Warsongs, this remix album is, to put it lightly, spine-tingling good.
Warsongs tops out at 11 tracks, each conveying a different style of destructive glory to put you in just the right mood for the win. I mean, who can even dream of losing when you’ve got the bristling oscillations of Jauz firing, Arty’s patented brand of electro encouraging your frontlines, or the menacing exclamations of James Egbert striking fear into the opposition.
There’s an exquisite mix of 8-bit sound design to inflict a bout of nostalgia, and a carefully selected assortment of dance music’s finest genres to round out the collection.
Have a listen to League of Legends’ Warsongs, snag it as a free download, and try to say this isn’t one of the best releases of 2016 so far.
