Just a few days after revealing he’ll be launching his own fashion line, Kygo has another big announcement on his hands. The globally recognized music producer is scheduled to perform at the closing ceremony for the 2016 Olympics.
The performance is set to go down August 21 at 8pm BRT at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, and will see Kygo take to the stage with guest vocalist Julia Michaels to perform their song “Carry Me.” The performance will coincide with the launch of the new Olympic Channel, a global initiative to broadcast content from the sporting event year round.
Speaking about the upcoming performance, Kygo discussed his excitement to be a part of the closing ceremony at the world’s biggest athletic event.
The opportunity to be a part of the Closing Ceremony of the Olympic Games in Rio is a huge milestone in my career and it will be the biggest performance of my life. I’ve been a sports fan since forever, and to be able to combine this with my music and help to launch something like the Olympic Channel is a dream come true!
Be sure to stay tuned for the launch of the Olympic Channel on Sunday after the closing ceremony.
