When you have something big and you want to make it bigger, you add Lady Gaga. That’s just kind of how it goes. According to Billboard, the pop singer is in talks to be the halftime performer for the upcoming Super Bowl, which is expected to take place on February 5th, 2017. Gaga performing during the NFL championship would be monumental, and potentially the biggest halftime show that the program has ever seen.

Billboard cites Gaga’s rendition of the National Anthem at last season’s Super Bowl as the reason why she’s rumored as the front runner. Her performance was breathtaking to say the least, and it’s no surprise why it would be helping her case – but regardless, it’s Lady Gaga, and it’s hard to believe she hasn’t actually played the event in the past.

She joins the likes of Taylor Swift and Adele as massive performers who are perfect to take such a high-profile stage but, for some reason or another, haven’t yet. Last year, Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Beyonce rocked the show, and it was the third highest watched show ever in the United States with a viewership of 115.5 million. Could Gaga surpass that number?

Whether Lady Gaga performs at the halftime show or not, she’s set for a huge next couple of months. The singer just released her brand new single, “Perfect Illusion,” last week, which comes off her forthcoming album that she says is “coming soon.”
