Celebrate Disney 100 with newly remastered shorts
It was announced today that Disney is releasing remastered shorts to celebrate Disney 100, and fans are thrilled about the idea. Disney Animation Studios released shorts for fans to enjoy since the beginning of the Disney era; they’re where we met several of our favorite characters for the first time and where the adoration for specific characters began.
WDW News Today shares the following announcement about the collection being rereleased; the shorts will begin streaming on July 7 and feature characters like Pluto, Mickey, Goofy, and Minnie Mouse. Of course, you must be a subscriber of Disney Plus to get in on the action, like you’re not already!
“Disney+ will begin debuting a collection of 28 newly restored Walt Disney Animation Studios classic shorts starting on Friday, July 7, featuring such iconic stars as Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Chip n’ Dale, and the studio’s first star, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. This year marks the centennial of the Walt Disney Animation Studios, which is being honored as part of the ongoing Disney100 celebration. Ranging from classics to lesser-known titles, this package of short films includes examples of Disney’s earliest theatrical shorts, as well as a wide range of entertaining shorts featuring Disney’s most beloved characters. ‘Chips Ahoy,’ a 1956 CinemaScope short starring Donald Duck and his chipmunk rivals, will conclude the series in October, leading up to The Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary on Monday, October 16.”
Here’s to an exciting way to spend the summer and usher in spooky season.
Disney CFO Christine McCarthy steps down
Disney’s Chief Financial Officer, Christine McCarthy, is stepping down from her position with the company, taking a family medical leave of absence. Continuing to work with the company to find someone to fill the void as her “long-term successor” and will also serve as a strategic advisor to Disney, as reported by CNBC.
Deadline shared the following statement, McCarthy said that she is grateful to have been part of the Disney family and for the opportunity to be part of the “iconic” company.
“I am immensely grateful for the opportunity Bob provided me to serve as CFO of this iconic company and am proud of the work my talented team has done to position Disney to capitalize on the business possibilities that lie ahead. Although I am leaving the CFO role, I look forward to helping with the transition and will always be rooting for the success of my extended Disney family, who have shown time and again that determination, teamwork and the pursuit of excellence are an unstoppable combination.”
McCarthy’s work with the company has resulted in growth and a continued path to power within the Mouse House, and her contributions to helping Disney continue on that same journey will be as valuable as her time in the position of CFO.
Walt Disney World is bringing in a new holiday party
Fans who visit Walt Disney World during the Christmas season in 2023 will experience the first-of-its-kind party at Hollywood Studios. Usually, the party held at Disney World takes place at Magic Kingdom, but this upcoming year, a special ticketed event will also greet fans at a second park on the beautifully decorated property.
Disney’s Jollywood Nights begin on Nov. 11 and run through Dec. 20 for ten select nights. Ticket prices will range from $159-179, and some of the special events that are on the agenda for the party nights include a holiday lounge and a soirée at the stunning Tower of Terror. If you’ve never been to a holiday party at Disney, trust me when I say it’s something you can’t miss. There’s an otherworldly beauty and magic to it, and guests this year will have two options to choose from; it really is the most beautiful experience you could imagine.
So, if you didn’t already believe that Disney is the most magical place on Earth, especially around the holidays — this should certainly make you believe.
