It looks like right after one facile awards ceremony wraps up, another one takes place to appease the music fans that felt alienated by the first. After much controversy arose when Martin Garrix placed at #3 on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs list last week, fans of the young DJ/producer can rejoice in the knowledge that he’s secured the Best Electronic Music Artist award in the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Other contenders for the award were Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Major Lazer. Jack Ü and Justin Bieber also won an award in the category of Best Collaboration after “Where Are Ü Now” recently became a double platinum record. I guess what I’m trying to say here is that if you look at the talent selection, it’s not like the MTV Europe Music Awards are really all that much more prestigious than the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs.
Nonetheless, we congratulate Martin Garrix on winning the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Electronic Music Artist and look forward to seeing him grow as an artist.
