Canadian based electronic duo MSTRKRFT are returning to the limelight following the announcement that they would be releasing their first major collection of music in five years. While the group has only released a handful of new tunes since 2009, they’re back this week to drop a new remix of A-Trak and Phantogram’s “Parallel Lines,” which was released last month.
MSTRKRFT take “Parallel Lines” in a new direction, bringing a darker edge to their mix that contrasts the euphoric summer vibes present in the original version. Glitchy synths and stuttered samples crackle alongside old school drum machine beats, infusing a sinister vibe around the once upbeat vocal track.
A remix collection for “Parallel Lines” is set to be released on July 1 via A-Trak’s imprint Fool’s Gold Records, and will feature new versions of the song from Chris Lorenzo, Bart B and more. If you’re interested, you can pre-order the remix collection here.
